He will provide the board with check register in future reporting for reference.
CAPTAIN’S REPORT
Dick K. talked with Brandon at BRFD about training. It was discussed the last Saturday of each month would be the best day for training at 10am.
We need to go through our CERT and medical bags to make sure we have everything we need to go out to incidents.
CERT is coming to Happy Jack possibly in April, we will need 15 people to attend.
PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Casey reported we are now an LLC, Lori D. is doing an amazing work with our 501(C)(3)
Scott G. has been let go as he did not fulfill what he had promised.
We will wait to collect dues for BRCST until the 501(c)3 has been finalized for tax deduction purposes.
Casey handed out a routine checklist for our 501(c)3 to all in attendance, this was prepared by Lori D. A copy will be put on our website.
We are hoping for more donations & fundraising with the summer events coming this summer/fall.
OLD BUSINESS
We received a new animal retrieval cage Thank you Pam H. for ordering this, it cost $700.00.
We voted on Emily J. as new secretary & Nicole E. is the new Community Outreach person.
Also the remaining board members will stay as before.
NEW BUSINESS
Team leaders need to fill out action reports for 2023. Rod J. sent those forms out in an email. Also updated search checklist, training exercise medical & search checklist needs to be updated on a regular basis.
Two First Aid bags can’t be found so Dick. Is going to check on that. Casey has the radio’s in his garage, Cal H. mentioned to charge the radio batteries monthly to ensure they are ready.
There was an incident on the mountain in early January, a razor flipped over on FR136, 4 young people were bruised & lost. Flagstaff 911 was called, they determined fire personal was not needed, the sheriff was called, he came out. BRCST was not called, there was a disconnect in communication & the person stated they did not have our phone# even though it is on every bulletin board in our community & at our church.
Casey S. talked about we need to do more in getting our search team ph.# & staff known to our community for future incident’s. The young people were found on FR137, thank you to whomever found them! Casey S. or some other BRCST personnel is going to go to all HOA meetings in the near future, & we are going to make sure we pass out more cards, also on the BRCC website & announcement screen.
Also we will post our info on the BRFD website & Kathe T. will put in the Starlight newsletter & their bulletin board. And at the Happy Jack lodge & Happy Jack post office. We would like to have our info at the Happy Jack/Blue Ridge ranger stations.
BRCST next meeting is on February 27 at Blue Ridge Community church at 6pm.
Meeting adjourned
